I've been on a Steely Dan kick lately, really re-enjoying some of their albums, vinyl baby!
So many of their songs are timeless, and this one maybe being to most timeless of them all, all because of the subject matter being so multi-generational.  To the Kardashians, the Baldwin sisters, Hilton sisters, Richie sisters, the Taylor Swift squad, you name it, this song is for you, as well as the all rich ones who come behind you.

I've recently re-discovered Switchfoot.  Mostly because I'm teaching kids to play their songs on guitar.  I've always loved this song.

In that Travelling Wilburys vid "End of the line" there is an empty chair with a guitar in it for Roy, now they need 3 empty chairs.
R.I.P. Tom Petty
It takes a quiver to do that.

In the 80's, when I was in high school, my buddy's Dad used to play Petty and the Wilburys in his shop all the time while we hung out shooting hoops (or just sitting around shooting the shit).  Little did I know how much that stuff got through to me.  In the 90s, Petty sat comfortably in the mix with Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, Pavement and the rest.  I just saw him a little over a month ago, and he blew the roof off.  The crowd was a mix of millennials, soccer Moms, white collar Dads in slacks, bikers in leather, hipsters with beards, and more.  He transcended the musical boundaries.   Amazing performer.  Amazing songwriter.  Absolute pro at his craft.  One of the true greats.

From last month's show here:
