Just getting home from an epic SUP surfing and camping trip to learn of Gregg Allman's passing...what a buzzkill...
He wasn't an angel...and, said so...R.I.P.

Saw him solo...and, with the Allman Brothers Band several times...even worked with their lighting guy back in the college days at an outdoor concert they performed in the Redwoods...

To quote Billboard:

Gregg Allman, who died yesterday (May 27) at the age of 69, was one of the greatest blues-rock singers of his generation, and maybe the greatest white blues singer of all time.

Here's a few of the great blues songs they covered...

One of my favorite country acts performing "Midnight Rider"...

If you are a fan...you owe it to yourself to pick up this DVD/CD combo...very entertaining...

Mayer has been mentioned a few times here but is worth doing again. If your experience with John Mayer is his early 2000's top 40 bubble gum hits like "Your Body is a Wonderland" and you are not familiar with his more recent blues-based work, you are in for a treat. He is one of the best modern blues guitarists we have right now, outrageously talented guitarist.

John Mayer gets a bad rap for some past indiscretions and unappetizing pop songs.

But for those wiling to journey past the veil just a little bit the guy is an amazing artist.

I am a bit biased tho as he has helped to revitalize most of the surviving members of my favorite band of all time (the Grateful Dead) to present as Dead & Company.

Today I hop on Summer Tour with my friends: Fenway>Fenway>SPAC>Citifield>Camden

I will be forever grateful to one John Mayer who has set his ego aside, is learning from his elders and letting the music play the band!

There is a group named, TV On The Radio. They wrote a song named, Wolf Like Me and sing it. I never liked this song because even though they wrote it, I think it is better sung by a woman named Lera Lynn. And in this cover version, her fellow musician is playing a banjo which gives this song a little bluegrass flavor.

Yup...Bob Weir had his choice of talented musicians that he could have added to the band...a bunch would have played for free for the opportunity to jam out Dead songs...

A beautiful cover of a beautiful song, done by a beautiful girl, what more could you ask for?
