Not sure if anyone's heard of Bastille, but they're up and coming in the UK and I have ties with the drummer!
Bastille cover Miley Cyrus' We Can't Stop in the Live Lounge

Was going to post this, but saw JrSUP beat me to it.  Jr, if you see this, I was checking out Bastille on youtube; someone posted a comment, "The drummer always looks like he's waiting for someone to attack him".   ;D ;D

Okay, so I'm driving in my van and that song comes on again, a song I've always liked but always had no idea what the hell it was about, as well as being totally unsure about some certain lyrics, and I know I'm not alone on that.  Is he singing what I think he's singing?
Besides, it's a cover of a Bruce Springsteen that was on his first album, but this cover by Manfred Mann made it to #1 on the pop charts.
So here, now you'll know what the lyrics are, but I still have no idea if it's really supposed to be about anything.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlBifX0H3yg
It's a car, not a douche, if that's what you're getting at.  There are whole essays on those lyrics and what they mean if you google the song.  They're pretty bizarre.  "Smoke on the Water" is another with a whole story behind it.

Also, Jimi Hendrix wasn't singing "Excuse me while I kiss this guy".

There's a word for those misheard lyrics--"mondegreens"--named after Lady Mondegreen, who didn't exist.  She appeared in a 17th century ballad called "The Bonnie Earl o'Moray:

Ye Highlands and ye Lowlands,
Oh, where hae ye been?
They hae slain the Earl o'Moray,
and Lady Mondegreen.

The only problem was that the actual last line was, "And laid him on the green".  But people misunderstood, and ever since then people have wondered who Lady Mondegreen was.  Don't ask me how I know all this.
When I found that, I read thru the comments, which were quite hilarious, I found this one.

"Krystal Lake2 months ago (edited) 2:06 Okay, so we all know the 'wrapped up like a douche' line... but does anyone else hear " And little Early-Pearly kept my anus curly-wurly - and asked me if I needed a ride "...
...and think that line legitimately, 100%, no joke, makes sense? :-)"

LOL, Great song,,,,,,,,,,,, whatever.
It takes a quiver to do that.

Never heard anyone cover Dylan in a way I thought make an improvement. Still haven't.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

I love Johnny Winter, but I'll readily concede his version of Highway 61 is great but not really an improvement.  But  Hendrix All Along the Watch Tower.. come on.

"Highway 61 Revisited"

Oh God said to Abraham, "Kill me a son"
Abe says, "Man, you must be puttin' me on"
God say, "No." Abe say, "What ?"
God say, "You can do what you want Abe, but
The next time you see me comin' you better run"
Well Abe says, "Where do you want this killin' done ?"
God says. "Out on Highway 61".

Shadows even the silver spoon
The handmade blade, the child's balloon
Eclipses both the sun and moon

There is no sense in trying.

Ok Double or nothing, extra points for being a "new" Dylan song. (that happens to be over 30 years old)

"Neighborhood Bully"

Well, the neighborhood bully, he's just one man
His enemies say he's on their land
They got him outnumbered about a million to one
He got no place to escape to, no place to run
 He's the neighborhood bully.

The neighborhood bully he just lives to survive
He's criticized and condemned for being alive
He's not supposed to fight back, he's supposed to have thick skin
He's supposed to lay down and die when his door is kicked in
 He's the neighborhood bully.

The neighborhood bully been driven out of every land
He's wandered the earth an exiled man
Seen his family scattered, his people hounded and torn
He's always on trial for just being born
 He's the neighborhood bully.

Well, he knocked out a lynch mob, he was criticized
Old women condemned him, said he could apologize
Then he destroyed a bomb factory, nobody was glad
The bombs were meant for him. He was supposed to feel bad
 He's the neighborhood bully.

Well, the chances are against it, and the odds are slim
That he'll live by the rules that the world makes for him
'Cause there's a noose at his neck and a gun at his back
And a licence to kill him is given out to every maniac
 He's the neighborhood bully.

Well, he got no allies to really speak of
What he gets he must pay for, he don't get it out of love
He buys obsolete weapons and he won't be denied
But no one sends flesh and blood to fight by his side
 He's the neighborhood bully.

Well, he's surrounded by pacifists who all want peace
They pray for it nightly that the bloodshed must cease
Now, they wouldn't hurt a fly. To hurt one they would weep
They lay and they wait for this bully to fall asleep
 He's the neighborhood bully.
Every empire that's enslaved him is gone
Egypt and Rome, even the great Babylon
He's made a garden of paradise in the desert sand
In bed with nobody, under no one's command
 He's the neighborhood bully.

Now his holiest books have been trampled upon
No contract that he signed was worth that what it was written on
He took the crumbs of the world and he turned it into wealth
Took sickness and disease and he turned it into health
 He's the neighborhood bully.

What's anybody indebted to him for ?
Nothing, they say. He just likes to cause war
Pride and prejudice and superstition indeed
They wait for this bully like a dog waits to feed
 He's the neighborhood bully.

What has he done to wear so many scars ?
Does he change the course of rivers ? Does he pollute the moon and stars ?
Neighborhood bully, standing on the hill
Running out the clock, time standing still
 Neighborhood bully.

btw saw johnny winter, and edgar winter's white trash, along with bb and albert king--third to last fillmore east show--i was 12 or 13--went with my cousin--my parents flipped!

"look ma (i'm only bleeding)" is prolly my favorite dylan song.

Bully is interesting--Dylan took a counterintuitive view of many issues--like "only a pawn in their game" performed at MLK's "I have a dream" rally--where, of all things, dylan empathises with medgar evers' murderer--powerful shit--powerful times--joan baez, 22 at the time performed also:

A bullet from the back of a bush took Medgar Evers’ blood
A finger fired the trigger to his name
A handle hid out in the dark
A hand set the spark
Two eyes took the aim
Behind a man’s brain
But he can’t be blamed
He’s only a pawn in their game

A South politician preaches to the poor white man
“You got more than the blacks, don’t complain.
You’re better than them, you been born with white skin,” they explain.
And the Negro’s name
Is used it is plain
For the politician’s gain
As he rises to fame
And the poor white remains
On the caboose of the train
But it ain’t him to blame
He’s only a pawn in their game

The deputy sheriffs, the soldiers, the governors get paid
And the marshals and cops get the same
But the poor white man’s used in the hands of them all like a tool
He’s taught in his school
From the start by the rule
That the laws are with him
To protect his white skin
To keep up his hate
So he never thinks straight
’Bout the shape that he’s in
But it ain’t him to blame
He’s only a pawn in their game

From the poverty shacks, he looks from the cracks to the tracks
And the hoofbeats pound in his brain
And he’s taught how to walk in a pack
Shoot in the back
With his fist in a clinch
To hang and to lynch
To hide ’neath the hood
To kill with no pain
Like a dog on a chain
He ain’t got no name
But it ain’t him to blame
He’s only a pawn in their game.

Today, Medgar Evers was buried from the bullet he caught
They lowered him down as a king
But when the shadowy sun sets on the one
That fired the gun
He’ll see by his grave
On the stone that remains
Carved next to his name
His epitaph plain:
Only a pawn in their game

That's one of the best in my book,  hard to nail down a fav.  Depends on "which way the wind blows".

Wow, that sounds like an epic show. Albert King such a bad ass I got to see Jonny Winter at "My Fathers Place" in Roslyn.  Funny I went and saw Traffic at the Nassau Coliseum with a catholic youth group when I was 13.  They did one of there legendary long sets and we got home at 2 am.  Same deal, parents , bonkers.  Almost pulled off sneaking up to Woodstock at 10 in the back of my older sisters car. That would have been almost as cool as hanging at the dog bowl.
