I thought The Fugees cover of No Woman, No Cry was really well done.

surf4food--I like that version better than the original.  In the Heath Ledger movie, 10 Things I Hate about You, Letters to Cleo performed it on top (actually on top, not with special effects) of Stadium High School in Tacoma:

Wow, is Letters from Cleo still around? Kay Hanley was a cutie and could belt out a song, the rest of the group was also excellent in concert, sucked in the studio. It's got to be twenty years since I last heard them play.

Not sure if they are or not but watching Parks And Recreation this past Thursday, Kay was featured in the episode and it made me wax nostalgic so I looked Googled her and LTC.  She still seems to be active in music and is still quite cute.

Okay, so I'm driving in my van and that song comes on again, a song I've always liked but always had no idea what the hell it was about, as well as being totally unsure about some certain lyrics, and I know I'm not alone on that.  Is he singing what I think he's singing?
Besides, it's a cover of a Bruce Springsteen song that was on his first album, but this cover by Manfred Mann made it to #1 on the pop charts.
So here, now you'll know what the lyrics are, but I still have no idea if it's really supposed to be about anything.

It's a car, not a douche, if that's what you're getting at.  There are whole essays on those lyrics and what they mean if you google the song.  They're pretty bizarre.  "Smoke on the Water" is another with a whole story behind it.

Also, Jimi Hendrix wasn't singing "Excuse me while I kiss this guy".

There's a word for those misheard lyrics--"mondegreens"--named after Lady Mondegreen, who didn't exist.  She appeared in a 17th century ballad called "The Bonnie Earl o'Moray:

Ye Highlands and ye Lowlands,
Oh, where hae ye been?
They hae slain the Earl o'Moray,
and Lady Mondegreen.

The only problem was that the actual last line was, "And laid him on the green".  But people misunderstood, and ever since then people have wondered who Lady Mondegreen was.  Don't ask me how I know all this.

As I was reading the verse, "Ye highlands........"  I was wondering.......how the heck does he know this. Pretty cool.
I read somewhere years ago Bob Dylan heard "I want to hold your hand" and thought instead of the harmonies saying...."I get by" that it said "I get high" and told this to the fab four when he met them thus turning them on to their first foray into all that stuff. Not sure if that is even remotely true but I do remember reading or hearing that somewhere.
