This recently popped up on the local CL....

*NEW* High Performance Inflatable Stand-Up Paddle Boards

"The boards that I sell are made with army marine grade technology."

"- Inflatable paddle board (made from army marine grade fabrication) "

I don't know anything about these or whether they are good or bad. I do notice there appears to be some careful wording going on though.

i wouldnt buy it one because of the ugly color. it probably same as any cheap inflatable, floppy.  I try a sevylor samoa and i inflate to the max recommend psi and and it feel like a soft shell taco.  Unless they are build for high psi, its going be floppy.

I was just curious so I sent a message yesterday asking about max psi since it wasn't mentioned on the ad. So far no reply.

The ad sure feels like a CL storefront trying to dump a container of boards. Can't tell much from the ad about the quality, so I'd see what kind of response you get and determine whether it's really someone who knows what they're talking about.

"Army marine grade"?!? What does that even mean?  Seeing as these are intended to be on water, I'd be more interested in something that met a NAVAL standard.  My bet is they totally made this up.

says they come with a "paddle / oar"  - - - so you know they must be high quality - from some one who really knows what they are talking about!    ::)

A close look will show an NRS fin set and the same center fin insert as my $1300 Coreban Sonic. (Or the Naish or...)

Also a K-Pump is a decent pump and worth $100 so it's a bit above a Sevylor.

Not sure, but if those go to 15 PSI, they'd be better than a Wal mart inflatable.

There is just so much that can go wrong in the manufacturing process of inflatables you really need to go with a reputable manufacturer and a dealer that can support the customer should any problems arise.  And by all means try a few different boards before you buy.

There are a lot of inflatables out there and the quality varies greatly. Making it air tight and water proof is not new technology, keeping a good rocker line shape and staying stiff is key and well know brands like Red Paddle Co, etc have the technology and quality to make these boards comparable to hard boards.

See their line: http://greenwatersports.com/shop/brand/red-paddle-co

Finally heard back from the gentleman. A very nice reply that I will quote part of....

Quote
William,

How are you? This is Thomas from Blue Point Paddle Co.  I'm sorry for the delay in getting back to you, but business has been booming lately and we've been slammed with orders.  First things first, let me introduce my wife and I (Kyna).  We are the owners of Blue Point Paddle Co. and for the sake of time, please visit our site at www.bluepointpaddleco.com to learn more about us!

To answer your question, the max psi that the board can handle is approx 20 give or take,.....

They now have a site up. I still have no idea on the quality though? Maybe someone in the review biz can get one to test?
