Product Sources - Manufacturer/Shaper List
« on: July 15, 2007, 08:16:41 PM »
Hi all,

Thanks to all of you for creating, as a group, what I believe to be the most complete manufacturer list online.
The list has been moved to a more accessable fixed location.  If you look up, you will notice that it (and product reviews) are now available on every page.

As always, if you notice an ommision from the list, please post it here or email admin@standupzone.com.

Thanks again,
Admin

We manufacture blade bags, all of which are made here.  NOT way over there.

Thanks for the link!  I have added it to the list.  Our goal is to make this list 100% inclusive.

Are you considering producing a full-paddle padded travel bag?

aloha!

just thought i'd chime in and let ya'll know that the pope trisect is being resurected...

just happen to be picking up their very first trisect since the 60's. it's a hollow carbon manufactured in the stealth mode.

they are shaped by joe blair of solana beach, ca who has his own line of respectable standups.

" J. Blair lived in Hawaii for 12 years and started shaping there 28 years ago. His accumulated knowledge has been combined into a board with slight "V" in tail; slight double-barrel concave in the speed zone; slight concave in the nose; very soft rails in the catch zone; and a speed zone between your feet. The foils on his boards is what really sets Joe apart from most shapers.

The lineage of his shaping experience is the reason why.

J. Blair was Dick Brewer's main shaper for 11 years. He worked with Simon Anderson for 6 years when the 3-fin first came out and revolutionized surfing in the early 80's. He also shaped for Xanadu for 3.5 years, specifically hired to do his semi's and gun boards. He was also essential in helping Gary Linden in improving his shapes for world class surfers. If you were to compare his boards with any other, you will immediately see the differences. J. Blair has two other board lines that are not being produced yet by other companies. He also makes custom sailboards, surf kayaks, tow boards, and kite boards."

Here's a link to another paddle manufacturer, Gillespie Paddles.  I've been loaned an example of one of their outrigger canoe paddles, and it is light, beautiful and well made.

Thanks for that.  Added.

It is crazy how quickly all this is happening.  $895 for an epoxy 12'.  Wow!

Yeah but look at it, I wouldn't pay half that price for one of those. That thing is so straight and stiff looking I bet it surfs like a giant pencil. I think this is one example of taking the 'fish' shape too far. Just my opinion of course...

Hello SS,
Thanks for the links.  Always nice to see that kind of pride in craftmanship and alternative thinking applied to a product.

Is Gary producing Stand Up boards?
