inland oahu paddling?

has anyone paddled the kahana river up in the kahana valley (windward side)?

it was recently recommended, and i thought i'd seek out more opinions and advice from other suppers. 

anyone done it?  i'm thinking of combining it with camping at malaekahana.

as many of you may know, you cannot paddle pearl harbor (unless military?), as well as the marina at hawaii kai (unless you live there).
