Question - just posted a topic and then I saw this thread...

I have a few week old Hobie 12'6 inflatable.  After my wife was out the other day on the board with our kids - she ran some errands and the board sat on top of the car for a few hrs.  She did not partly deflate the board.  When I went out the other day, the board resembled a banana with a TON of tip/tail rocker which wasn't there before.

HELP - did we bugger up the board?  We usually pump it to 12-13 psi and it usually only had a slight amount of tip rocker.  Board has been sitting in the garage deflated since...

Check with the retailer from whom you purchased the board.  Hopefully either the retailer or Hobie directly will stand behind the product and help you get a replacement.  I had a Badfish MCIT iSUP chamber shape failure, and they replaced it immediately.

She did not partly deflate the board.

I always drop some of the air out of mine when it goes on the roof, esp when it's hot. The guy I bought my C4 from told me to do this.

How hot was it out? Depending on heat and altitude it can change the pressure. I only inflate my board to 12-13 psi when paddling lakes around 9500 ft. That is similar pressure to 15 psi at 7000 ft. Have to be careful with heat too and like others have said just let out some when storing on car in sun or in car when it's hot out. Most boards can take a much highly psi then is recommended so it maybe a flaw in construction. Hobie should at least give you a discount on repair.

Slingshot SUP has a cool new High Pressure SUP Inflator Adapter for inflatable SUP Boards. I have one but haven't tried it yet. It looks great though.

From their website: http://www.slingshotsports.com/sup/products/parts-accessories/high-pressure-sup-inflator-sku-14580000

This High Pressure valve allows you to get the most out of inflatables. This adapter allows you to use a compressor to inflate the SUP to the disired PSI without the labor. Inflatable SUP's perform dramatically better at high PSI  make sure you get the most out of your board.

That's a cool adapter. Opens the door for many more pumps to be useful.

Careful there detourgreg - Wardog might claim that he made it first and Slingshot's stealing from him . . . ;)

Bless you for that adapter link. On the way. I have a little 12 volt pump that I can now use to get me to 10 PSI and then save my manual energy for topping off.

Now.. to just build a adjustable pressure relief valve...

They sell those to fit on valve stems for racecars.  Releases air as tire heats up to get a steady PSI.

Finally tried the new Slingshot valve adapter tonight for the first time with a new Viair 88p compressor and I am very happy. Less than 10 minutes to inflate all 3 chambers on a 10'6" Badfish MCIT. I'm looking for a solution to help with pumping multiple boards at high altitude in Cusco Peru, and this could be it.

I bought a BP12 electric pump at West Marine last week. $100, and I already had adapters from an old Bravo hand pump to use with it.  Will inflate my Uli's to 14-15 lbs in just a few minutes, and from there its an easy 50-or-so pump regimen with the hand pump.  When I first got the Uli's back in June '11, I actually fried my elbow pumping them up (I probably aggravated an unknown elbow injury).  $3k in PRP and PT later, the hand-pumping turned into a time-consuming family affair.

Now if I could just find a decent 110V AC adapter solution for the BP12, right now its alligator-clips on the 12V battery. I  believe the BP12 is a turbine-style pump, which will inflate faster than a piston-type compressor pump and should heat up the air much less. This is based on my use of a piston-type pump I use on my 4Runner to air-up after 4-wheeling.

Let me know if you find a 110v solution. I have a 110v outlet in my Jeep and it would be easier than opening the hood and connecting to the battery.

to avoid using the Car battery...I bought some 20.00 12 volt batteries from Chrome Batteries online...they use them in Kids Cars...Sealed lead acid, no spills....I think its 9 amp hours and runs my Viair pump for at least 30 minutes......they  are so small....that I bought two so I can pump up at least 3 paddleboards with the two batteries before they need recharging...

What we do is hand pump for about 3 minutes, to get the shape...then use the Electric....most of the time I only use one battery.  But its nice having the separate battery for portability

What they really need to invent is a HIGH Volume Turbine pump that switches over to a piston type where you can put the pressure to it. :D

I use an iSup (Bote Breeze) and a Bote HD. Am thinking of selling the HD as I love the inflatable. The storage and travel pro's are great
