That's awesome. What a fun life Kai has!

Wonder how long/far it will go before needing a refuel?
Semper Fi!

It's simple, either you get the wave or the wave gets you.

I know that some of the older farts on here, like myself 60+, see this stuff coming along and we think, damn, I was born too late, or, can I buy 30 more years of youth.

Youth is always waisted on young people.

The ultimate fantasy, retaining all your skills and knowledge, but being to buy 30 more years of youth, just to play some more.
It takes a quiver to do that.

So if tow in surfing is real surfing, and stand up surfing isn't real surfing, what jet surfing? Science it's a mix of real and fake surfing, I'm not sure where it will fall.

They claim 75km range. 35mph top speed. Claimed weight is 27.5lb without fuel. 100cc 2-stroke.

At $10-13k it ain't cheap, but looks like a lot more fun than a wave runner.

Of course, it's illegal to use these in waves everywhere in California, so far as I know.

Pono.... please make them a handheld remote so the can lose the "Snurfer" rope  ;D

Surfjet is finely progressing to a useful toy after 45 years.

You're only young once, but you can be immature forever. Or at least until you kaack. As soon as these things are really available, trust me, I'll have one.

I've been through every iteration of these things, always ready to buy one, never seeing a usable version. They do need to lose the cable, though if it's like the earlier versions the cable has steel guts and is a critical element in getting going.

I wouldn't care if they were banned in Cali. There's a zillion unridden waves spots on all coasts (especially California) that are unridden for one simple reason--no convenient parking.

I wonder how much horse power they are getting out of a 100cc engine to hit a top speed of 35 Mph?  If it was under $5K I would be saving my pennies to get one and then put Bill’s wireless throttle kit on it.   ;D

I think the critical question is; how much does it weigh?  Prone surfboards (short ones) are feather weight.  Longboards and on into SUBs are much more.  Getting tangled up in a wave with a really heavy object might not end well.

Considering we haven't gone to the moon in more than 30 years, maybe we've hit the peak of human existance and we're now headed downhill?
