As sutainable as possible
« on: April 11, 2013, 09:14:32 AM »
Although I am still finishing building my first board, I am already thinking about the next one.  I would like to make the next one as sustainably/green as possible.  All I know is that it will be a hollow wood board, and it will be a 14 foot race design. I will either use wood that is being discarded by someone else or buy from somewhere that is supplied by a sustainable plantation, but beyond that I have no definite direction.  I have heard about entropy resin, but having never used it I am open to other ideas on that front.
ANy suggestions would be welcome
Thanks,
Bret

FSC or SFI certified wood if you can't find any repurposed material...

bio resin
cork - corecork
coco mat - dont know any source yet
hemp fabric - google it

also go to http://www.grainsurf.com/forum/ for all thing related to making a hollow wood surfboard/sup.

i dont think bamboo product is that eco friendly, it take alot of energy and chemical to get bamboo shots to a flat panel.

Check out www.c3dindustries.com for non-yellowing, vibration-dampening sustainable composite coatings.

Thanks for the help. There was a lot of advice here I wouldn't have gotten on my own.
