Portland Paddle Spot

Headed down to Portland for a few days, wondering if anyone could make some recommendations where to paddle right in town, I assume on the Willamette.  Thanks

If you aren't bringing your own board the river is next to Gorge Performance and is very nice in that area.

Yes, definitely go to Gorge Performance (gorgebob's shop).  From there, you can walk to Willamette Park and paddle from there.  My favorite is around Ross Island.  Roundrip about 4.5 miles. Or add about a mile and paddle right into downtown.  Or go south from Willamette Park to George Rogers Park in Lake Oswego and back (about 9-10 miles roundtrip).   You can also launch downtown at RiverPlace or on the east side at the kayak dock by OMSI.

Lots of good PDX paddles. I like the multnomah channel starting from the boat launch on Sauvie's island. If you want a really long paddle you can go to Scappose bay and have lunch at Rolandies on the Water--used to be pretty good, then back to Sauvies. It's about 20 miles round trip, but very pleasant. I also like paddling around Hayden Island in the columbia and the channel. Lots of wildlife, houseboats, etc.

And the stuff Mike mentioned as well as some upper Willamette river stuff beyond the Willamette Falls. I dobt there's much wind yet, but you could venture up to Hood River and see what the Gorge is all about. Great town. Last but not least there's whitewater. The kinder, gentler stuff in the Sandy. Ay-oh-Riverr.
