Bellingham Bay Downwind Vid
« on: March 21, 2013, 08:29:47 AM »
Probably at the exact same moment as Rastaman's Seattle downwinder, we were doing it 2 hours north... 30mph sustained, gusting over 40.
Air temp 42 degrees F.  Water temp 46 (-:  One surf ski & one SUP.

Today it is almost dead calm...

A true viking.

(my niece arrives today from Bellingham, and we'll be out at either Doheny or San O this weekend enjoying a session and hopefully some Sunshine therapy.  I wish she could bring some avocado ice cream from Mallard, that place is epic.)

Smokin' downwinder! From 2:45 onwards those swells are huge! How many miles is that run up in bham? Looks like a great run!

Bob... that board was made by Tom Swetish, the guy on the surf ski... he also made the ski (-:

Rasta... our run was only 4 miles across... we could make it 10 if we start down off of Chuckanut Drive... You 14 miles of downwind is very impressive... I'd be wiped-out!

Thanks GD.  Nice to have more downwinding action from another locale - guess you and Rastaman should try and hookup for a joint venture...(and don't forget your surfski bud, that's a cool perspective.)

That was some pretty big ground swell as you approached the shore at the end. The slomo from the surfski cam when it caught that wave was very nice.

Thanks Argosi, pretty good day out there... I'd really like to try a SIC Bullet in those conditions... That custom board I was on is good but I still have to paddle very hard to get into some waves. The surf ski makes it look way too easy (-;

Beau, you're welcome to try out my Bullet on a downwinder next time you're down in the Seattle area and want to go out for a paddle, just shoot me a PM. I thought I got the board going pretty quick the other day, but you'll take it to another level I'm sure.

Cool vid.  Thanks.  Conditions definitely appeared Bullet worthy.  It's a stoker to see DW in other places.  Liked switching the POV from the OC to the SUP
