Carbon/foam v.Hollow carbon
« on: March 19, 2013, 05:01:36 AM »
Can someone tell me their thoughts on carbon/foam v. hollow carbon for a 12'6" race board? What are the advantages/disadvantages? Are there any really good hollow carbon boards that I should keep an eye out for at the Carolina Cup if I want to try one out? Just thinking out loud....

Thanks!

There are a couple of hollow boards out there, 404, Lahui Kai, Ron House, Bark, Zulu, Naish. I have only demoed the Lahui Kai and the Zulu. There was a huge difference between the two. The Zulu had no flex at all and was much lighter. The biggest advantage is that there is no foam to absorb water and are more durable if constructed right. The only disadvantage is the higher price. I would definitely keep an eye out for the Zulu and try it out.

The lahui kai is a fiberglass hollow board.
