I don't know if it's the longest, but it's a 38-39 mile solo or relay race from Santa Catalina Island to Dana Point Harbor, Ca. It's not a downwinder, it's a channel crossing grind. If you scroll to the bottom of the list, you'll see the SUP times. I always feel sorry for the support boat drivers motoring at 5 mph for 7 to 8 hrs. I think they would rather paddle even if they are not paddlers.    http://www.oceanohana.com/Ocean_Ohana___Catalina_Challenge_Relay_-_Results_files/ALL%20CATALINA%20results.pdf
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

Karen did it solo a couple years ago. The weather was perfect that year. Last year they cancelled it because of huge seas and strong winds. Seeing there are a few youth OC-1 and OC-2 crews that are part of it, they felt cancelling it was the right thing to do. There was the 6 man OC crews that wanted to do it anyway. It's one of those Bucket List paddles you want to do for yourself. You need your own support boat, pay for lodging on the island for your crew, and friends that will commit their weekend (and sanity motoring 8hrs at 4 to 5 mph) to your personal cause.... A lot to ask or pay...

That reminds me of a great segment on Ocean Paddler TV that I just watched about the escort crews, they are the unsung heroes:

I thought the one here starting in my home town might be the longest until you posted, KelpFarmer...

http://muskokariverx.com/

This one is in Sept., I believe Bart de Zwart is signed up for it... I'm guessing he doesn't realize that it's not continuous... Lots of portages that are more suited to a canoe... Whatever.  I'll be down at the bridge at the end of my street to cheer him on... If he makes it that far!

The Dean Randazzo "Paddle for a Cause" is a 22.5 mile race around Absecon Island (the island that Atlantic City is on).  Dean is a professional surfer from the AC area who was diagnosed with cancer several years ago. The Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation gives money to cancer patients who are in need. Great race. This year's race will be held on June 22nd and will start and finish at the Golden Nugget Casino. I should have mentioned that the Muskoka River X is 128km, or 80 miles.  And is supposed to be completed in one day/ 24 hours... :o

The Phatwater Challenge in Natchez, MS is 42.5 miles on the Mighty Mississippi.  With the head wind we've had the last 2 years it is a very long day!

I was just looking at the website of the Yukon River Quest:
http://www.yukonriverquest.com

No SUP division (yet) but this sounds like an adventure, 444 miles through the Alaska wilderness, going with the current.
