Los Cabos refers to the 15 mile streach from Cabo San Lucas to San Jose de Cabo which is on the Southern tip of Baja. It get great waves all summer from South swells and there are good waves within an hours drive when there are North swells. Don't know about rentals, but SUP is getting big down there and it is a surf destination.

I am staying in San Jose Del Cabo.  I would rather not schlep my board down, but I will over not surfing.  What are the better spots for Stand Up?

I know that Costa Azule surf shop is in that area and is very good. Check ot thier website

There is a very good map on their site. You might try emailing them about standups.

Your going to wish you had a board with you down there once you see some of the water that you can paddle. If at all possible, bring yours!

I flew Alaska Airlines down to mainland and bringing my 10'0 was not a problem. Cost me 50 bucks each way, should have been 75 each way but they were super cool and saved me a couple of bucks.

If you're staying in San Jose you're really close to Old Man's, The Rock and Zippers. That's the order of the breaks from West heading East. You will have no problems SUPing Old Man's, you may get a couple of hard looks at the Rock and you'll get spider-monkey attacked by Mexican boogey board packs at Zippers. It's a fun wave but there's a L and V crew there that has claimed it. L and V = Local and Vocal.

You'll also be near the rivermouth which is near the old El Presidente Hotel (I think- haven't been there in a few years). That place grinds and if it's on is really good - don't drink the water.

Around the East Cape, you'll have to drive a bit but there are UNREAL flatwater and surf paddle spots. You'll see that there are kind of mysto slow rolling waves that you can reach with your SUP that are tough for others to get to. You'll also roll up on the old stand bys - Shipwrecks (usually a zoo, probably not a good place to paddle up to- lots of shortboard rippers- it's the "go to" spot down there) and 9 Palms which is a super fun SUP spot.

There are more spots Punta Perfecta, Vinorama, GoatBalls (just kidding) and you'll find 'em if you drive slowly around the cape. You could also drive to Playa Cerritos (70km) north of Cabo San Lucas- I SUPed it two years ago when it was really small and it was super fun. If its big and wedgy you'll probably just want your shortboard.

Good Luck and we'll expect a full report!
