Who likes PCs better than Macs ??

Just to keep everything fair here......

Have you given up your Mac to buy a PC?  Have you abandoned your iPhone to buy an Android?  Have you traded in your iPad for a Galaxy Tablet?  We wanna hear from you.......

Well, I've never bought any of those whack Apple products, but....

* My Win8 PC w/ SSD drive boots to desktop in about 8-10sec, whereas the wife's Macbook?...you could time it w/ a sundial.

* I'm able to understand the concepts of "home", "back arrow", and "menu", so although my MENSA card seems permanently lost in the mail, I'm perfectly happy w/ my Android phone.

* The iPad is great if you want a free-weight workout, but personally, I find the 7" form factor of  the Android tablets much more comfortable...

* It could be argued that the new stylus-equipped Android tablets and phablets (HTC Flyer, Galaxy Note 5" and 7") kick the snot out of anything that Apple offers.  Certainly alot more innovative...

* I will concede, the Apple IIe had some pretty fun games.

Haven't had the displeasure of using any Microsoft or PC product since 2003.

Android doesn't interest me at all with how seamless the iPhone is.

How old is your PC vs. the wife's Macbook? My wife's 2011 Macbook Air (with SSD) is damn fast to load and run, so it makes her Macbook Pro from 2008 look like molasses. Of course that MacPro was damn fast in its day, and it's still working today (but on the slower side).

An SSD drive is going to make any computer faster. I have one in my Macbook Pro. Boots cold in seven seconds. One of the nicest things about a Mac though is how rarely you have to boot it. I don't think I've restarted my Mac in the two months we've been in Maui.

I'm a unix/linux fan for anything requiring powertools, but the dirty little secret is that Macs are linux boxes in drag. My garage computer is normally in Mac mode, but Linux is lurking in a partition.

Here's a couple of shots to warm Randy's heart, who, when I say I have to go clean the garage says "wouldn't it be easier to just keep it clean"? You OCD guys crack us ADD guys up.

It's not really fair comparing boot times, especially between SSD and regular drives.  So many other variables too, such as memory, processor, hibernation, etc.

And Windows 8, LOL.  Can you say Windows ME?

Why would you want a phone with more buttons when one button does everything that 3 buttons do?

It's called the iPad Mini.  7.9 inches. Thinner than a pencil. Typing this post on it right now. Rather, speaking it and Siri is typing it.  

The only thing Microsoft and Android devices are good for is keeping me employed.

I think my preference is obvious.

I am a diehard PC person but I've converted over to Macintosh for all devices except my desktop machine. You can't get a power machine from Macintosh for under $!$3000.  I can build a more powerful PC for half that or less.  Win7 and Win8 are actually pretty good for a user that can dodge the pratfalls of PC's.

That being said, nothing compares to the portable devices that Apple makes...
MacBook Air, iPhones, iPads etc.  Nothing even comes close to. The stability of iOS is pretty amazing.

Yeah, same here, the servers run Free or Open BSD.  Migrated to Linux when I was doing CFD (actually mostly teaching myself) and needed to build an HPC to get output in less then a week, and a Beowulf cluster was the best way for me.

 I am using a PC....but i use it mostly for web browsing. I have Quick Books on it, but is hard for me to use...mostly because i don't spend the time to learn it. I have my secretary and accountant looking into the possibility of switching to Freshbooks.....i am looking into bringing my new Lenovo Idea pad Yoga back to Best Buy and try a Mac....if it truly is super reliable and easy to use....

I cannot for personal ethics reasons buy any Apple products, for their long time will to prevent technical advances and user empowerment via questionably legal practices and fighting open standards. But to each his own, I wont prevent you to buy one.

You make an excellent point colas. I'm not in the industry so I don't follow the details but its bothered me more and more as I've become aware of what Apple's been doing. Pretty sleazy.....on a lot of fronts.
