Kealakekua Bay w/ da childs
« on: August 22, 2007, 03:21:25 AM »
Howzit all,  my last sesh was a blast. Took out 4 of my 6 children, on a 10.10 SOS, 10.0 SOS, 11,7 JL, and a 14' KuNalu.   My 17 grl was on the JL, my 10 boy on the 10.0, the 12 grl on the 10.10, and me with my 8 yr girl on the 14'.

(Note: I found that w/ young passengers, make them sit up on their knees and not grab the rail, if they hold on, when the board tips they will try to pull you over, but if you say "hands off" when the board tips they will help you correct)

We paddled across historic Kealakekua Bay, strong headwind this afternoon, ice cream on dad for the winner. Launched them youngest first to create a small handicap. Dolphins were out as usual. Once we got to Capt. Cooks Monument I dropped off my passenger and let them swim around the dock there while I took another lap for training.

Before the return we were all sucking on the hydro-pack taking a break, my 8 year old girl wanted to practice (really her first time) so I put her on the 10.0 and she cruised for a while, hopping off the board and turning it around with her legs in the water, then she went back out and just took off back to the pier across the bay. I had my son hop on my the 14 footer with me (he was pissed) and we escorted her back, her first time and she nailed it, 1.2 miles, only fell 2x. Wish I had a camera!  ::)

That is a great day when you can go out with your kids.  It sounds to me like you need to get another board for you (uh, I mean your daughter).
