SUP New Years Resolution
« on: December 30, 2012, 01:43:53 PM »
Well, a new year brings new goals. The recent posts on days logged on the water has inspired me to make it a goal to spend more time on the water this year myself. Quick morning outings before work, and getting the kids out on the water during the flatter days, I think I can almost double my time on the water this year.  I also just ordered my new universal to be able to sail my Exocet Fish which should get me out on choppy/windy days I may have other-wise passed up. With the kids on flat days, SUP surfing on good wave days, sailing my SUP board in the 10-20 knot range and windsurfing the 20+ days, I think I now have all my days covered. I also hope to get to a few paddle events this year and try my hand at some competitions.

Any other resolutions out there?

In 2013 my resolution is to not break 2 paddles, one SUP, 2 Iphones soaked, one camera lost and 2 pairs of Costa del Mar  :P

Great topic for my first post :)  I'm hoping this is the year I can finally get my own board instead of renting....but the goal beyond that is to build up longer distances here on Puget Sound and try a little SUS-ing on the Washington coast. And to spend more time swimming and strength training when I can't be on the water!

Get a SIMSUP and get back to having easy fun on small waves.

Love short surfier sups for bigger days but here in socal those days are rare-tons of smaller less perfect shape days and i think the simsups out there are the real deal, lots of local shapers jumping into the simsup fray-L41-Infinity-Kings etc

FINISH!  FINISH!  FINISH!

Even if it means a brutal paddle.  The groovy, cruisey glide off the back is cool and all, but it is not the way to FINISH a wave... Unless you were just blasted out of the barrel at pipe and your name isn't Kelly Slater.

Bring new paddlers into the sport locally and share our waters with new friends from overseas...specially Zoners ! Hmmm....a new camera might help in this...but even better to do it in person !

I want to see thirty pounds less of me next year--without amputation. I'd say spend more time in the water, but I'd need to grow gills. So I'll say I want to improve my surfing and my overall paddle fitness. That probably means P90X again. It's that or start doing the Kalama workouts again.

Oh, yeah, and most of all, swimming. I need to get both my sprint and distance skills WAY up from the flopping around I seem to have degraded to. .

1) Get out and paddle at least 2-3 times during these awesome winter months
2) Paddle all the time once it gets warm in anticipation of race season
3) Wear sun screen! My back got wrecked too much this past year.

Get back to Maui for the Maliko race, do lots of summer downwinding in the Gorge, stay fit without getting injured and keep the stoke for this awesome multi-dimensional sport!
