Stand up Surf Competitons

Anyone know of any good SUP competitions in the South East? I haven't done any before but I am hoping to get into them. I know there probably aren't any until the summer, but I figured I would go ahead and ask so I could get a head start.

How southeast?  I'm down in Fort Lauderdale Florida and since the winters here are, well...a joke, it seems to pretty much go year round.  Are you looking for Stand Up Surf competitions?  Or Stand Up Paddle races?

In January, two events, the first is smaller race that has been building up slowly in popularity.  The Race is run by a great shop down in Key Largo and the race courses that they choose are usually pretty amazing as far as all the wildlife you see during the race and the beautiful courses:

Just do it the easy way
Google up your local ESA district they run SUP divisions at all contest also the ESA has WRITTEN down judging criteria so there is much less chance of local judging favoritism

I'm in North Carolina, but really anywhere on the east coast is fine. Also, I'm mainly looking for surf comps

Jim any idea what would happen if there was an ESA contest, but no SUP division (assuming due to lack of people who SUP surf on the great lakes)

theres an ESA great lake division, a contest this weekend, and no SUP division. Just pay my membership fee and get a free pass to the easterns? lol

Mid Atlantic, the Steel Pier Classic in VA Beach is always a big event, every Memorial Day Weekend

There is also the esa cnc but the SNC really did a good job this year and some pretty good sup surfers who show up regularly . Should be even better next year with more good sup surfers showing interest

There are 2 SUP contest this weekend in South Florida.

January 5th in Palm Beach http://pbc.surfesa.org/

and

January 6th in Treasure Coast District http://tcst.surfesa.org/index.htm.

The Palm Beach one will have quite a few guys in it, from the pics I have seen several guys rip. Planning on heading down there for both this weekend with several guys. Ill repost how it goes for future knowledge, if you can make it.

N. Fl. ESA was holding their final contest of the year this December. I sent an email to see if they would do a SUP heat and they said "sure, just round up enough guys". We had enough to run a division and now look forward to a full 2013 SUP schedule with them.
