Zone influenced wave boards pics
« on: November 11, 2012, 04:41:43 PM »
I've been putting off my SUP size reduction for too long ( 've been riding 8"10 for ever).
My boards are "by design" and strongly influenced what you all type on your key board.
Things like: dome deck, knife hard edge on tail, black board looks cool, (might of gone over board on that one), carbon fiber in the right places, down to what type of track top and leash i use.
The black one is 8'4 X 28 X 3"7/8 that i absolutely love but should have gone shorter.

The fish was influenced by SUPUK: 8'0 X 28"5/8 X 4"
14' pocket down winder in process, pics coming.
Spreading the SUP stock one custom at a time and loving every minute of it.
Pura Vida,
Shawn.

Hey shawn by the way why such a deep swallow on the 8-4?
Very Fish-esque rear end-better for the waves there?

so cal... I think any board will work on the waves here..lol

A guy paddled out of his way to  talk to me one day(uhoh here we go),but it was to say how cool it was to see a sup turn like that(whew!).
I offered a try,he handed me his 5'5  fish & said "ride it like a skateboard"  i did and kicked out in the channel with the groms mouths  wide open :o.
I don't think they have ever seen me shortboard(been 4yrs ;D)  Went home and shaped one just like it. Kind of a loony looking thing, wide point way back,wide-deep swallow..but the guy(50s) & the board riped.

But the same tail on the sup...crazy but fits on a 5'5 too.
Same bottom also,flat with nary a V.
I have np surfing small waves on a sup. It's a blast!
lookin into the sim-sup thing also (after i make an 8'0 like the black one),when will it end!?

Thx paddle on bro's

what kind of bottom contour is it on the black board?  Love the black and green comb color.

Thx me too.I knew when the lime green TT showed up what color board would be under it. Now what to do with the orange TT  :-\.

Very little single concave(almost flat) to V,it's a cracker (they say that on the breeze,i think it's good)!

Shawn,

Those are cool boards. Nice job. I wish I could hit up some of those waves with you. What's your water temperature like over there?

Does that yellow twin tail have carbon as the outside layer on the rails?  What's the layup on the round pin?  Thanks.

Boludo..water temp, just south of "luke warm".

HM..working with 1lb foam & E glass & local kine epoxy :P.
I may of found some RR, their pretty proud of that stuff around here..hell i'd settle for some additive F.

layup, dbl 6oz bottom with 10'strip carbon LW in between the layers.
Top.. full wrap 6oz on rails then 10' carbon strip + three full layers 6oz.
All prepreg(Thanks DW soooo light!).

On the fish(I was shooting for olive :D), carbon lives on a 6oz wrap then three on top.
Thanks guys
