Funny.  Looks like a "baby making" storm.
Oh shit. I see it too.

I did a four-mile paddle yesterday. It was eerily calm. There was almost no wind, but also very few animals scurrying about. No squirrels. No birds. No nuttin'.

The wind is starting to happen this morning though. I went shopping this morning for milk and such and there are gusts happening in the 10-15 mph range. The leaves are also ripe for getting blown off the trees, so at times I was driving through a rain of leaves. That was very pretty.

The fun soon! Apparently because of the odd nature of this storm, where the center lands won't be so important. The impact will be hundreds of miles around. So, if predicted, the center hits southern New Jersey, that still will wallop us in New York.

If you've always wanted to try surfing on the Great Lakes, Sandy could be a great opportunity...

The Weather Channel was predicting 20-25 footers on one of the GL's?! :o
Wow-this could be someone just really over-hyping the storm-but general consensus is this is a very rare event and things could get ugly.

They are saying 25 feet on Huron, which could mean 15 or so on the shore.  They are calling for 10 to 18 over here on lake Michigan.  Ontario and Erie are looking to get some good waves also.  Like MK said, get here soon if you want to try it, it's going to be good.

Nice pics...lucky SOB's.

I'm not understanding most of the models calling for it to turn into NJ. I'm certainly no meteorologist but it looks to me more like Long Island or maybe even Rhode island are going to be where the eye makes landfall. If it does it will make a big difference on what I plan on doing tomorrow. Going to have to look at the updates in the morning and decide if coming into the office makes sense.

Pretty frigging scary forecast regardless.....

As I understand it, the closer it gets to that big ol' arctic trough, the harder it will be pulled west.  unlike summer storms where huge arctic air masses are very unlikely to have an effect of its track.  Of course, Sandy is going to pull that cold air farther and faster east then the jet stream alone would have done.
