Looking for double board bag suggestion
« on: October 24, 2012, 12:59:51 PM »
Anyone pick up a double longboard bag for SUP travel?  AA charges $150 each way, so I'm thinking about taking my 9' SUP and 9'2" longboard to Nicaragua and leave them for future trips.  Sticky Bumps and FCS have double coffin bags, but want to be sure that the width and thickness of the SUP fits along with a longboard.

Be ready; Lately: they've been opening the bag and counting how many boards are in there. On a recent trip to CR, I paid for one 9' sup and my son paid for two short-boards in a bag half the size of mine. He was NOT a 'Happy Camper'  >:(...           Paddle on;   JD

Second the midnight products bag. I got one for my 9-2 Alllwave. It's a coffin style ~8 inches deep. I took the Allwave to Kauai and came back with that + a longboard for my daughter. The boards fit great and the bag is very high quality.

On the counting the boards issue: from Seattle to Kauai, they asked me how many boards ("one"); on the way back they didn't -- they just went by weight and overage would have been the same as a suitcase ($50), but I unpacked some other gear into another bag. Your mileage may vary -- a max length and weight are more fair than the arbitrary number of boards, but that's the airlines.

I always tell them one....leave it to them to check.  AA regs should allow me to get through....light is subjective:

One-way. One bag per person. Multiple light weight boards will be considered one item as long as the bag weighs less than 70lbs and is shorter than 126".

I'll check the custom route.  Price is my main concern since I hardly ever travel with boards.  Once they are there, they are there.
