From East Van and looking to paddle out of Deep Cove, Cates Park, and Barnet Park.

Goal for this summer is to rebuild my strength and endurance and explore a little bit of Indian Arm.

Hey jwongbc - I semi-regularly do a 10K circuit from deep cove and keep jug island, racoon island and twin islands on the left, then back over to the NVan side.  Or the opposite direction.

Go early before the wind picks up and the powerboats come out.

Is that course downwind?  What little I recall of windy/wavy days there the wind/waves would be on the beam or maybe 3/4.

The winds look pretty good and if you jump to minute 4 in this video you can see some glide http://youtu.be/8GZYMHNf2Zo

Not in BC. Bellingham, wa. But I check this area a lot. I head to BC regularly and am always looking for places to paddle even want to try my hand at surfing my board.

Victoria has a facebook page Stand Up paddle club of victoria. We have done a couple of downwinders this year. I don't think the conditions have been perfect yet but the wind direction has been ok. I found the waves were a little too close together and steep for one of our sessions. We'll get it figured out!

Vancouver here.

I am mostly doing false creek to english bay/2nd beach on week days and deep cove or rocky point on weekends.
Currently, I am on an inflatable (astro touring 12'6") but looking to get a hardboard possibly this summer, if I can find cheap and convenient storage for it.
