Thank you Admin.... you rock!

Some definitions of "gunkholing"... adapted for SUP:

Gunkholing is a strange and little known term. It is used in the nautical world, that loosely describes the act of dipping in and out of small inlets, coves and rivers that are in shallow water. Most people think of Gunkholing as a style of cruising local shores. SUP's are an ideal type of water craft for this pursuit

The best Gunkholers are folks who are wanderers by nature and want to discover and explore hidden or little known nooks and crannies to satisfy their need for serenity.

Gunkholers tend to go as far up and into the gunkholes as possible, seeking ever more inaccessible destinations.

I love to wander around the Cape... checking out the skazillion creeks, coves and rivers. Plenty of uninhabited islands to laze about on, and lots of wildlife to observe. My 9'10 Surf SUP is great for gunkholing... it turns easily in tiny spaces and if I move forward and lift the fins, I can paddle in 4" of water. ;D

I manage to get plenty of exercise zipping across the larger bodies of water between destinations.

Here are some shots I took, dinking around this summer.

Holy crap! I have never seen water that flat.  No wonder you had to wait until there was a flat water section.

Have fun

Great pics. Reminds me of earlier days.  We had a Pearson 28 sailboat that my Bride and Kids just loved camping out on.  We would anchor off of one of the many islands here on Lake Norman and the kids would notice the washed out cave looking areas in the high banked clay.  I always told them those were bear caves.  We would venture out on the island around dusk hunting for the bears.  Never saw one but it sure was fun watching the kids get all cranked up seeing who would get closest trying to peak in the caves.
