My Turn to Ask for Advice
« on: July 26, 2008, 09:04:12 AM »
I think my wife needs less volume to really rip. She doesn't know it yet, because she probably doesn't know any better. Everything she's ever surfed is corky compared to what us men ride.

She's surfing the 9'6 PSH production sandwich board. 28 3/8 wide x 4 1/4 thick.

At 125 lbs, she looks like the board owns her, instead of her owning it. She surfs decent, but she doesn't quite look like she is "master" over it.

I was thinking the thinner, narrower, C4s might work better. I was considering the 9'0 bat tail. Maybe the 9'6.

Anyone what to comment on these boards, or my assessment of what I think I see when she is surfing her board.

What is her surfing backround?

Extremely athletic water women. 20 years windsurfing. 10 years kitesurfing. one year SUP surfing.

Photos of her surfing this morning here. http://ncpaddlesurfer.blogspot.com/

DW,
I'm 180 lbs and I ride that 9-6 and it floats me well so yeah, it sounds like shes ready to move on or better put, move down.   What amazes me is shops are still pushing huge boards on small people here in Hawaii.     I saw a lady on a 11' -9" x 31" x  4-3/4" board she just bought and she must of weighed 105 lbs.     She was walking around on it like a sidewalk.     I have no clue how she got it to the water!   She said, "I think my board is to big for me..."

As far as I know, the C4 9-0 is the only production pop-out available today that is a smaller persons board.   It has less volume over all.      It might be the ticket...   I have a bunch of smaller designs coming out but still a couple months out.    A lot more requests for really small boards for women and kids...  SUP is gonna be GIGANTIC.

Thanks Blane.

She was able to meet up with the C4 rep yesterday and try the 9'0. I was amazed at how easy that potato chip was for her to paddle and surf. She floats on it just right in my view. She ordered one on the spot.

I can't wait to see how much I sink it.  ;D
