Zoners are indeed cool folks.  When I was in Portland during a major rain last winter, Gorge Bob and PDX and I went for a paddle, with GB providing all the gear and PDX providing a ride back to my hotel.

That was a wild experience and was a cool way to kill a couple of hours before a business dinner.

That was a fun afternoon--nice break from paddling alone during the dead of winter.  As I recall, there'd been a huge sewage overflow into the river, which Bob and I didn't have the heart to tell SL about. Felt like we already knew each other when we met.
