Suction Cups on Boards?
« on: October 02, 2012, 06:30:09 PM »
Curious if you all have had any issues attaching suction cups to certain boards?  What surfaces work best, or worst?  Thanks.

Have not tried yet, but I have a Ram Mounts suction cup mount for my JVC Adixxion, POV camera. I will hopefully get to try it out soon. The Ram suction cup seems to have a good amount of holding power.

I have the GoPro suction cup accesory that I use with no problems.  Also use an Auto Dent Puller suction cup to attach my fishing poles for fishing with no problems.

You have to attach them to a clean smooth glossy surface to get the best adhesion.  Have not used them in heavy surf for fear of losing any of my gear.  But, once they are on, they hold.

Just bought a net holder type accesory from a company called "SUPthings" (i think that was their name), they use small 2 inch simple push suction cups, and there are 4 suction cups that attach to a bungie cord net.  Haven't used it yet, so I don't know if it will work.

What are you looking to hold?

I've used the RAM mount suction cups on my board and so far they've never failed. As a back up, I attach a shoe lace to the mount and loop it around some type of fixture on my board - that way, if the suction fails, I won't lose my camera.
