he was just help Misty getting some sand out of her ass.  I saying relax President is better than a stress out one, you make better judgment.  Either it is golfing, bushing sand off a pro female beach volleyball's ass or jus good old bottle of Jack, is fine by me.

SlatchJim, here's the problem... you would slash the deficit AND pursue energy independence.
Spookini, I think you may have missed the part where I inferred that I realized that my methods of fixing the problem are completely against our own laws.  I could do both...I assure you, but I couldn't do both legally.

I think I'll just go outside and polish the 'Grand Torino' and cuss at the neighbors...  ;D

I just hope I have enough free time one day to golf as much as Obama does.  100 rounds of golf in 3/12 years.  :o
Twice a month.

Its more than that.  That was at the 3 1/2 year mark.  Usually when you are failing at something, as president or any job you put your nose to the grindstone and you put the leisure activities on hold.

Approximately half the country is Democrats and the other half Republicans.  It's obvious who is what.

Political threads are a waste of time and serve no useful purpose on a non-political forum such as this one.  I'm sorry I participated.

Unfortunately i think this thread in just a few pages illustrates the biggest problem we have as a country. The polarization devolves to pointing out faults, name calling, and sarcasm. No suggestions for middle ground or bartering this for that. When GW was in the WH the left screamed about the time spent at the ranch, with BO in office the right screams about golf. Do you really think the President needs to be in his office to be involved and engaged? It's a dumb argument on both sides. We have little to no concern for compromise or solutions....just maintaining power and getting everything our way...whichever way that happens to be.

A lot of issues could be simplified and progress made towards some kind of solution if we could learn to negotiate.

Both parties suck, and the far left and far right should be rounded up and placed on a deserted island to kill each other off.

I'd like to see all subsidies to all forms of energy production eliminated, all of them, even for oil, no more picking winners and loosers.  Just let the market forces steer us in the direction of the energy source that can make a profit.  Profit drives creativity much better than subsidies ever could, just ask Solyndra.
The consumer would be the winner in the end, competition and creativity always brings down prices.
It takes a quiver to do that.

Naa, Pono's paddles will last far longer than the presidentual elections will.  Hell, if not broken, they even have a longer life span than either of the candidates.

Nothing like the political thread to kill a good BOP buzz-

really Free?-see this is the kind of stuff this thread stirs up-Free has never met me nor have i met him-but he insinuates that repubs are half human-ok, whatever-but kind of a cheap shot Free! ???-i wish no ill will towards Free-i assume he is half human even though hes a dem,if hes not i can see by his participation on the forum that he at least has human hands to type- he hates Bush-i hate Obama-blah blah blah-we probably have lots of fundamental differences but in the end we both do what we feel fits our beliefs and then we live with the results of the election and the sun continues to rise and set. I would surf with Free any day of the week, his political leanings have zero bearing on my life, nor mine to his.

National politics tends to bring out the us-vs.-them mentality--like a sports rivalry.  But people with opposing views often have similar underlying motivations.

I just was involved in a local issue here that became political (well, we caused it to become political on purpose).  In the end, we had a coalition of people agreeing on the solution. My main ally was a very liberal (even for Portland) "professional troublemaker" neighbor, but one of the events that most helped our cause was me getting interviewed on local radio by a conservative political talk-show host who also has a national show.  With the local stuff, you can go beyond the surface differences pretty quickly.

Check out the youtube link below.  It is a mashup of modern attack ads and the words of John Adams and Thomas Jefferson in the 1800 presidental race.

Election of 1800 Attack ads

A NY Times article about the same election:

That's really funny although I am not certain you meant it to be.

I really think that at the end.......or at the root......we all want (those who "get it"  not......dummies or...savages who have nothing to back up their opinions and just go along for following sake) the same things but just get caught up in the ridiculous....political/government process of which we have no choice but to deal with in more ways than we want to admit or know as it is extremely scary how much it involves everything when you break it all down. One side is more this.......the other more that....I really think we all want...that middle common sense ground and agree on the same basic principles. The whole thing it seems is just a runaway train.
An example may be: I have no problem, nor do I think anyone else really has an issue giving some of our tax money to someone truly down on their luck to help get them going again...even if it takes a year or two...but to give it to someone....inner cities or trailer trash....they are all over.....possibly 3rd or 4th generation...who thinks they are entitled to that....nope.

Should someone start a thread on God or religion?

i think my statement correctly reads and reveals that imo Dems are half humans thus Repubs imo are less than half….i dont know maybe 38.43333% human :D.

YES, i do think Dems have more compassion (being the humanistic trait) in general, but still not nearly enough for my liking.

Its part personal belief and part joke, not a cheap shot. anyway, it's really in reference to ALL the scumbag spineless cyborg politicians….NOT us citizens.

peace, love & epic waves

You basically nailed it.  In my life time I have never seen our country so divided (well the 60's but I was a kid).  It really doesn't matter which side of the political spectrum has the solutions because the other side will not let it happen.  We as a society are so divided that we might as well just accept the fact that we're screwed and at least enjoy the ride down.  And let's face it, politics by it's very nature is a crooked business.  Even the people I vote for I would never be friends with or sit down and share a drink with them.
