Canada Sessions

Cox Bay yesterday. More beautiful south swell, warm air and water... and almost October! Little bit closey at times, but if you found a shoulder it was amazing.

Late July into August is typically warm and dry, and we get a decent peppering of South Swells coming from yonder. However, it can get stupid with the crowded breaks, though probably nothing a Californian would be stressed about. Prices get jacked in July/August, double or more, and everything is booked solid, so I'd plan in advance. The rest of the year it is beautiful too, but the swell gets messy as multi-directional swell starts showing up, and it is obviously colder with lots of rain. That said, my best and cleanest session in Cox bay ever was last November on overhead waves.

The water is abnormally warm still up here! It's strange!

... and the good weather keeps on rolling for Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. We probably have not had any significant precipitation since July. Normally this time of year it is overcast, raining and around 12C, instead today there was no wind, 20C in the sun, and people were riding around in bikinis. Over the three days the waves started off big and meaty overhead, tapering down a bunch today with some super fun chest high lefts you could pump through crazy fun style.

Small conditions at North Chestermans Friday at Sunset before things went flat, and then got stupid big and messy the rest of the weekend. Looks warm, but wasn't!

Little ghetto edit from today... Didn't catch the best ones on film because it started pissing rain, ah well! Insane river current, you can see halfway there was no progress to be had, so I resorted to beach walk shuttles and relaunching! Fun!

Haha yeah! The current was so strong the only way to get back to the peak was to shuttle up the beach, so when I came to shore and saw this guy there, not really caring as I approached I was stoked! Got to within 10 feet of him, at which point I started to get concerned if he was going to attack my eyeballs and I headed the other direction. Never had I seen one so close, definitely cool.

Great thread......video is awesome, looks like a sweet day to be out. Pretty glassy, cruisy waves.

Wow, great video! Fun to watch that! Jealous of the wave even if it looks frigid!

5 days of solid high period swell headed this way starting tomorrow coinciding with holidays wahoo! Getting giddy. Only downside is the rivers are puking out full on ice melt making the surface layer pretty frigid. First dive under a wave isn't bad, second starts to get uncomfortable, but by the time you pop up after that third you are starting to feel a bit disorientated.
