Vent Plugs on Sup's

A question? How important are vent plugs for sup's ? My board doesn't have one and have been told I should get one installed.
What's the consensus?

Every board should have one, and they are so easy to install, all you need is a drill and some 2 part epoxy.

Depends on the board.  

I have five boards without a valve that I have had for 3-4 years and they are exposed to high temp and sun and they are fine.  I ahve left them on top of the car in direct sun light for hours and in a hot garage- no problems.

Then there are boards like my wife's custom Bark that heats up quickly and needs to be vented at every chance.  Air gushes out everythime you open it up.

Depends on the board.. and the type of foam core that it has.. I'm thinking if it doesn't have one it shouldn't need one.

IMO they are not that nessesarry because most people just leave them sealed up 100% of the time and have no problems.
