Long story –

Years ago a few Hawaiian buddies of mine taught me how to fish, catching and using live bait, which increased my catch rate tremendously.  I was so excited, and loved to go live baiting, so they would always tease me about going to catch live bait next time we go fishing.  Then, one day they told me that all boats need a name, and mine didn’t, and because of my excitement they suggested I name my boat “live bait”, and I should put it on the side of my boat in big letters.  Well, I never got around to putting the name on my boat, but we all started calling it “live bait”.

Then one day when I was on vacation, I saw a boat named “live bait” in big letters on the side.  I laughed and said that is what I was going to name my boat.  Then someone told me that when you see a boat named “live bait” it means they are selling live “bait” and you can just pull up to them and buy what you need.

Well, they almost got me on that one!  It’s all in good fun as we always played jokes with each other.

So, on a fishing forum, I was thinking of a screen name and almost used “live bait” as a personal joke to myself, until I thought about it and I didn’t want anyone PM’ing me looking to buy live bait.  So I chose “Dead Bait” instead and have gotten used to the name, and so far no buyers.

I lived in Argentina for a few years in the mid 90's.  Was there without any family so my family became all the great people of Argentina.  I actually started to believe I was one of them.  Some of the greatest people ever!  Anyways, the word Boludo:  Direct translation would be someone with big balls.  However, when used over there it's actually much different.  If you call someone Boludo or "Che Boludo" it's just like calling them a friend in slang, similar to Dude or Bro.  You hear it from little kids to the elderly, but if it's someone you don't know and they tick you off you might also call them Boludo, like idiot.  Gets kind of confusing unless you've live there.

Aguante Argentina!!

My screen name was always riksurf

I decided to change it up for the Zone

I'm always chasing waves... Creeks offer a nice balance... a totally unique way to enjoy SUP.

I love the quiet solitude of paddling creeks and backwaters. It's like moving around in a beautiful picture, you can get up close and personal with wildlife.

I took this picture of creek I paddled early this morning.... foggy and peaceful

I regret using a screen name as boring as my first initial+last name. If I could do it over, I would change it to my favorite goofy screen name "Ichabod Spoonbill".

Can you change your screen name?

In the 90s I owned my own business, "Technology Partners" partnering with third world hospitals so they could afford high end diagnostic imaging equipment.  I started using my current screen name on all kinds of sites and kept it, so that friends from other similar sites would recognize me.

I like the wind in my face ( not sneaking up behind me where I can't see it  :P )
In theory, there should be no difference between theory and practice, but in practice, there is...

I grew up in Anaheim, CA. and we hitchhiked to Huntington Beach and Balboa each summer to surf. I've surfed (prone and windsurf) seems like forever, and still love it.
I was born in Paisley, Scotland in 1944, hence Surfer44

I get most of my sessions in the evening (after putting the kids to bed). Sometimes there's no time for dinner, so instead, I get "waves for supper" (which I believe is the British word for dinner).
So it has nothing to do with SUP actually  :P

Mine has nothing to do with football. I got the nickname Bowl, long story. That friend also got me into standup hence the name.
