Goretex vs "manual" vent plugs

What is the expected life span on the material in the official vents?  http://www.foamez.com/casica-retrofit-vent-plug-selfventing-p-780.html these to be specific.

Can you give detailed instructions on how you like to install these Goretex plugs in terms of epoxy (Sounds like you like the dingdough). 

Sounds like drill small hole, then put tip of Forstner 1 inch bit to cut out 1 inch hole, then sand.

My concern with the dingdough is so thick wont saturated into adjacent abraded gross/wood laminate.

Installation is probably the weakest link for these Casica plugs given Military grade

I would love to learn from your experience.
