After surfing a super long freighter wave on Friday, my GoPro popped off the board and went for a swim - for 2 days. I even went back with a snorkle to try to find it.  Being my 3rd GoPro lost in a few years I was determined to find it.

Video continued running 45 minutes creating some really interesting footage of the camera bouncing along the sea floor.  I edited a few minutes out of 1hr. Neighbor Jon Brown found the camera today.  Check it out... http://tinyurl.com/6s9vcfl

what kind of gopro mount are you using? I been installing carbon tube throught the board and mounting it with a bolt attaching to a gorpo tripod mount, pretty solid.  I been think about using the sticky mount as it is easiest to attach to the board but i might have go back to my orignal route as i dont want to lose my gopro. it is cool that you find it.

Does it mount with a suction cup?
Taller than most, shorter than others.

Invest in a $6  floating camera strap and you will never loose your camera again in the water.  I think Itova floating camera strap is $5.99 or less.  I got 2 for 2.99 each.  If your camera gets knocked off the board it will float and you won't loose it to the ocean floor.  Good investment to save a $200-300 camera.  Especially if you have lost your camera more than once, don't you think?

i got the 'floaty back door' but thankfully have never had it come off. i put in a fcs plug on my nose to attach it that way. just seemed a bit more secure.
had a friend that had his fall off his third time using it. he put an add in the local newspaper and someone found it and replied to his add. it had washed up about 1km south of where he lost it on the lake

kinda spooky, like what a drowning victim sees.

interesting video and testament to the durability and water tight seal of a GoPro

Ya, was pretty lucky having neighbor find it. it was on a typical gopro mount which i never had any problems with. after the camera got knocked forward onto the board by an incoming wave, i tried to fix it with my paddle which is actually what pryed it off the board.

the underwater footage went on for 45min then again for 2 more segments of 45min but less interesting.  the freighter wave was a long one, nearly 300yds, nearly worth the incident.
