That Positively Kai series is really well done, Kai doing his thing, Dave Kalama adding commentary, multi-discipline.  I'm inspered to paddle-out on a prone-board on the next decent swell...

Really great stuff. What cool kid Kai is, the Lennys put their heart and soul into their kids and it shows. Kid's going to be a megastar, every move he makes is a poster. Some of those shots almost look posed they're so graceful, even though they obviously can't be.

I can't say that I was surprised that he wasn't on Surfers top 100 list, but it's a shame that guys like him get left out on that.

It says a lot more about the list than it does about Kai. They need people like him, he doesn't need them.

There is a deep pool of really great young surfers though, and specializing in one thing refines performance. If someone compiled a list of top 100 waterman and left Kai off they'd simply be regarded as idiots instead of what Surfer is -- wordy, self-important knuckleheads.

Idiots AND wordy self important knuckleheads.  This kind of interactive forum is so much better than any mag.  We have vids, pics and all our knuckleheads have a self depreciating POV that makes them digestible.  Personal cameras will get so much better in the future  and mags will be a part of the past in a few years... IMO
