Just noticed today that some of the wood veneer looks wet in patches on the bottom. I've been repairing dings as I've made them but I guess I need to do a thorough going over. Must be getting in somewhere. I need to do a complete makeover of my board anyway. Maybe I should take it to a pro for repairs. Biggest problem is that its my only board and I'm in the middle of training for this summers challenge. Being without a board right now for 2-3 weeks isn't an option. I'm going to have to patch and hope for the best.

Bob Coleman in Falmouth use to repair windsurf boards for some of the windsurf shops on the Cape. Cape Sailworlds may have his phone number or he may be in the phone book.

This link is old but the phone numbers may be good. It's worth a shot to get a hold of Bob Coleman.

Hehe...no its not! But the wife will shoot me if I start bogarting hers. She might be kind enough to let me use it for training though. Would actually give me a better workout...definitely less stable and less glide than my 12-6.

I need to get myself another board. I'm so addicted now that the thought of being without for any length of time just isn't an option.

Thanks Weed...I'm going to take a close look tomorrow and make a decision.

There are certified Surftech repair guys around. Surf shops should be able to hook you up with someone who knows sandwich construction.

If it were me, I'd buy more Marine-Tex and keep SUPing.

I know that frantic feeling Stone-axe... when my first paddle snapped my feeling (while still in the water) wasn't about how pissed I was about having to buy a new one but, rather, what shop would be open right now that would sell me one so I didn't miss the morning session.

Go get a new board- you've established that this is what you do for health and happiness- this is your thing- you need a backup board- we've all got 'em- go do it... :)

It will keep you on the water until your new board arrives!  ;)
It takes a quiver to do that.

Doh!....I hate it when I'm stupid!

I took a much closer look at my board at lunch today and figured out what is wrong. It's not water getting in that is the problem. My board is the Starboard 12-6 Sportech with the wood veneer. I've been using it constantly so it is always on my truck....without a bag! I feel really dumb! The issue is oxidation at the wood/finish interface from UV, basically a sunburn. The finish is coming up in a number of places exposing the wood.

I'm going to have to completely refinish the surface of the board. Oh well...maybe I'll add some custom graphics. In the meantime I think I'll need to take John's advice and look at getting another board..... ;D.
