Tonights session 8/17/2007
« on: August 17, 2007, 06:15:35 PM »
Went out tonight with my Bud Christian, and a newbie friend of His. She had just bought the board, I forgot the name on it, but the Shop that sold it to Her didn't get hHer on the right Board, in my opinion. It is too narrow for her, and she had a real hard time standing up on it. She got on Christians Board, and was doing a lot better.
Anyways, not much for Waves, only about 6" to a foot. But I did a lot of sprints around a Bouy about 1/4 mile out. Tried catching some of the micro-swell out there, but barely got anywhere on them. Once in a while something would get us moving, but then just mush out.
One thing bothering me is, there has been a 5-6 foot Shark running around a couple of or Breaks. Last time we had Waves several People spotted it rolling thru the line-ups. And we have seen it everytime we paddle the area. I hope no one gets bit from this thing.

The north shore is still in its summertime slumber so at least you have SOMETHING to ride. I am still "trainning" and not quite ready for to surf waves yet but every session I feel closer to that goal. I am confident that if I put in 3-4 days a week I will ready when the waves arrive in a month or two.

BTW-any idea what kind of shark you guys are seeing?

Bill, it seems to be a Bull, wich scares me even more. They are the garbage eaters of the Sea, and will "test" bite just about anything (from what I have learned). I tend to not worry too much about Sharks when I am in the water. But this guy has me a little sketched out. I am just glad my board ( the SUP) is bigger than it, and I hope that's enough to keep it at bay.
