SUP rental El Salvador?
« on: January 24, 2012, 02:43:32 PM »
Thinking of doing a quick trip to El Salvador. I have a SUP, but would like to just rent while I'm down there to maximize my flexibility.

SO, does anyone know where we can rent SUPs in El Salvador? (preferably with some advanced, shorter shapes?)

I'll check with my buddy and get back to you.  He goes down a few times every year.

He's been there about 7 times:

No sup rental
Bring your own board
At the points you can ride shorter boards for sure
Respect the locals
Only sup Sunzal (350 yrd right hander) unless you are real good
Sunzal is a really fun wave

Its going to take a while for good quality boards to populate some of these places.  I've been leaving my boards in Costa Rica each trip, but there are some good rentals coming finally available.   In Nicaragua, there's only a handful of rentals and these boards are either early shapes or they are big clunkers.   I'm assuming El Salvador has an even small tourism population, so it doesn't surprise me there's no rentals.

Pick up something used and decent.  I bet you could sell it to a local shop and recoup your $.  Email some of them ahead of time to see if they are interested.

^ what he said. costa is starting to get some decent sups that arent 11ft NSP's but that's really about it. im heading to nicaragua next month and am just gonna leave my board there to save me the hassle of dragging it down each time. theres really nothing good to rent there unless you want to go for flat cruises
