I'm 44 and former US Freestyle ski team (moguls) member and extreme skiing athlete, so have had a few knee surgeries.  Also have trained in martial arts for 25 years.  SUP is much easier on my body then the sports in my past.

I turn 48 a Month from today, have skateboarded since the early 70's, and still do. I used to ski and snowboard a lot back in the 70's & 80's, but not much in the last 20 years due to present location. I paddle whenever I can and it has really helped me get back into shape (whatever that is  :D).

53.5, no age related health problems other than hearing loss which fortunately doesn't affect my paddling although it makes it difficult to carry on a conversation in the water.

Will be 65 in Feb. right knee a little stiff and left shoulder still recovering from last summer injury but still paddling/surfing as much as possible. Really glad this sport came along when it did, great health insurance ;)

51     A long prone career left me with blown shoulders and misformed neck.  Now, standing with this paddle, feel as if I'll keep it up till the end.  I look at the young crew with envy for having so many more paddleing years ahead of them.  The guys on the other end of the spectrum are an inspriation for what can be.

I always feel better after a session.

Foote... I disagree with ..."You don't quit surfing because you got old....You got old because you quit surfing..."  I've just about quit surfing because of arthritis in my cervical vertebra.  Arching my head when I prone paddle incapasitates  me for a few weeks after I do it.  No problem doing any type of SUP but surfing is probably over for me after 50 years. I'd still love to go but the pain is just too much.  Body (in this case neck) has just worn out.  However down winding is a fine replacement and is kinda like surfing in the open ocean.  Pretty inspirational to see the things guys have overcome on this forum.  Maybe if the invent cervical replacement in the future, I'll be able to paddle a surfboard again.

I turn 67 in 2 weeks and my body feels it - hip replacement, my knee is going, rotator cuff torn, bicep tendon torn (neither repaired) along with general aches and pains.  Alleve is my friend.  Lots of water sports through the years, whitewater kayak, windsurf, kitesurf, prone surf.  Now limited to SUP flatwater and waves and kitesurfing. Both are more forgiving on my body, shoulders especially.

42 with shoulders a little raw from way too many years of swimming.  Love paddling and have been doing it several times a week as my release from the everyday.  Would be back to my college weight if I could just walk away from a good IPA (or two, or three....).
