What: Moonlight Beach Paddle & Swim Presented by Nixon
11 mile paddle board race, 1 mile open water swim race.

Where: Moonlight Beach, Encinitas

When: Saturday May 17th, 2008
- 8:30am, 11 mile paddle board race
- 11:30am, awards

Sponsors: Nixon, Wahoos, Honolua, Excel, C4 Waterman, NCP, Boardworks,
Kokomos Beach Café, Maui Jim's

Entry Fee:
- Paddle Board Race: $45.00
- All participants will receive a race t-shirt, Honolua Surf Trunks and
assorted sponsor swag, post race refreshments, and entry into raffle.

Divisions:
- Paddle Board race: Stock-12 ft. and under, 14', Unlimited, Women-
Open class. Kapuna (45+). Stand-up Paddleboard rudder/no-rudder. Top
three finishers in each division will receive an award. Additional
awards provided by Nixon and Excel Wetsuits.

Awards: The awards ceremony will be held on the beach 11:30am sharp.

Raffle: Great "Participant Only " Raffle provided by sponsors

The paddle board race will be Point to Point from Oceanside Pier to
Moonlight Beach; beach start and finish.*

Reccommendation: Drop boards at Wisconsin St., Oceanside early...Drop
vehicles at MoonlightBeach (see Website for parking) and carpool back up
for 7:00am registration

*In the case of heavy surf conditions, there will be an in water start
and beach finish.

It seems as if the only divisions for stand up will be boards with rudder and those without? Or are you going to divide stand up into stock (12'6" and under) with age division, 14' and Unlimited like the prone boards- that would make it a little more contestable!

We just had the greatest day ever...perfect weather, great conditions on the water...great friends to to share the 11 mile paddle from Oceanside to Moonlight beach , Encinitas.  Special thanks to Nixon, Wahoos, Honolua, C4 Waterman/Boardworks, Excel,  Maui Jim's and NCP for their support.  If we didn't have committed sponsors like mentioned above, we wouldn't have these great events to race.  We couldn't have asked for a better group of folks to paddle with today...Thank You.

Moonlight Beach Paddleboard Race

Thirty Two local paddlers came together for the First annual running of the  “Moonlight Beach Paddleboard Race” from Oceanside to Encinitas, a distance of just over 11 miles.
The weather, conditions and company couldn’t have been better…80 degree air temperature, 67 degree water, a small N.W. push at our backs and all the guys that you really want to attend your race.  We had a great Beach start at Wisconsin Avenue in Oceanside which was televised on Fox news and an exciting beach finish at Moonlight Beach, Encinitas.  The paddlers were met on the beach with a feast provided by Wahoo’s and NA Multisports and great swag provided by our sponsors; Nixon, Honolua, Excel, Maui Jim’s, C4 Waterman/Boardworks and NCP.  Everyone left the beach happy and full.
