4 Door Wrangler - First SUP

I'm thinking about getting my first SUP, I spend most of my time kiteboarding, so this will be something to get my fix when we have no wind spells. I'm looking for something that can handle waist high waves, nothing really bigger because we never really get anything over waist high (Charleston, SC) and will work for flat water cruising as well.

I'm 6'0, 185 lbs. So I'm thinking about something in the 10'6 to 11'3 range. My main question is for anyone who has had a 4 door Wrangler, how noisy/hard is it to mount to the roll bars with just regular straps and some foam pads with no top on? I've tried it once, but it was only for a few miles, and not on the highway which I'll use most of the time on my 30 min or so drive to the beach.

So, what's the best solution? I'm looking into ULI inflatables, since it would make it really simple to throw into my car with my kite gear and use the same pump, that way if I get skunked with the wind I've got the SUP as backup. It seems like from what I've read it should fulfill everything I'm looking for.

Any thoughts?

I own a 2010 Wrangler and mounting to the roll bar no issues. You do have some air Disruptions though. I drilled my hardtop to mount Yakima racks and it is better with the top on. You can also get racks that fit over the softtop and are perfect for your application. There are a few different brands but quadratec is a good place to look at some. Inflatables are great but you are  limited in board options.

Yeah I'm not trying to spend a lot of money on racks for the hard top, I was thinking of putting it out the back glass, but I don't think there would be room with the spare tire, especially with a
10'+ board.

I kite so much that I'm not willing to put a lot of investment into racks, etc. unless I really get into paddleboarding, that's why I'm leaning towards an inflatable.

Anyone with any specials on a ULI?
