I purchased the Thule 810 SUP Taxi a couple of months ago.  Over the last weekend I noticed two of the base pads (pads the board rests on in the rack) were missing.  When I checked the Thule website these parts were listed as "Sold Out".   I called the customer service number at Thule and got the recorded message...leave your name and number and we'll get back to you.  Any one else loose the pads?  I like the rack but doubt local dealers stock these parts, so I'm thinking I may have to buy anotherone.  Argh........

Thule has great customer service. Their US headquarters is about 20 min from me here in Connecticut and I've known a few people who have worked there ( they give good employee discounts ). They usually go to whatever lengths necessary to make customers happy. Good to hear stories like this.

I have that rack too. It is superb. The only design problem are those parts you needed to replace:unless you are very careful loading the board, they like to detach from the rack.  Seems like they should be glued in place or molded into the design of the racks themselves.

Nice!-great post-just bought this few weeks ago-thinking of Gorilla gluing the little posts on the underside of the pads to keep it locked on?!-anyone try this or something else?
I heard a rumor that the next model will have these permanently affixed.

Just got off phone with Thule customer service. Told me the new model will fix problem and sending me replacement pads no charge.

This kind of excellent customer service is why I will always buy Thule in the future and why I have a ton of their stuff now.

Anyone had success with glue?

Great news about the customer service!

I just bought some Gorilla Glue, will try tomorrow and let you know.

Now I wish I had asked the Thule rep for a recommendation to glue the pads........anyone else checking in with Thule please ask and post their recommendation here.

I had the same thing happen and the customer service was first class.  I have not had an issue with the new pad.

THULE freakin rocks!  Just got off the phone with them - great customer service.  Sending me replacement rubbers, also said that you could use gorilla glue to hold down the rubbers.  The fix on the new models have bigger ends that will hold in place better - think I would still use the glue though.

THANKS THULE!

Thanks for posting this! I just lost a white saddle pad and I was pissed. I purchased my SUP Taxi in July and felt it was off to a bad start, because the saddle design is clearly flawed. I also feel like I'm about to lose at rail savor strap pad when I toss the straps over my tall SUV. I love the speed of racking, the locking and the stowing of extra strap. rack system is tall and can be hard to load the board on a tall vehicle and at the same time watch you don't lose a saddle pad.

Last week I recieved the replacement pads.  I asked for two, Thule sent four...thanks again Thule!  The Taxi is not perfect, but of the choices out there, its the best I could find.  Yes, it is a bit of a reach to put up and take down a borad.  I'm 6'1" and have a 4Runner factory rack and its a reach for me.  All in, I like it just fine.
