Interesting.

Particularly in relevance to the fact that Puma or more correctly the company that owns them just bought Volcom.

Nike bought Hurley and are now pushing in with their own brand.

I think Puma will take a similar path and move in on the surf market on their own, some of the quotes by the Puma guy indicate that this will be the case.

I just wonder what brand Adidas will buy now, i'd tip Quiksilver.  Big and valued very well  right now.

It's a wedge shape with a twin fins.
Probably keep it under wraps like the American Cup keels...

There. I fixed it ;D
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

It kinda looks like just the front half of a two piece 24 foot big-wave gun...
There's another photo that I can't post, shows both fins set really far forward.
Trippy looking board.

Here another shot of it. It's definitely a departure from the main stream designs. Has Laird completely sold out, or is he just truely ahead of the game?

Looking forward to seeing more about this.  I'm sure it will be well documented. Great to see innovation at work even if it just looks wrong!

I'm a fan of 2 things:

1 - Crazy shapes that might change the sport.

2 - Our athletes making big mainstream money.

This is good news all around for me. But dig that crazy width.

I wonder what the surfing SUP designs will look like, is laird still going to have is surftech boards? or is that a conflict of interests

What about his deal with Oxbow?

I understood that his manager was "taking things to the next level" as far as costs for brand affiliations with Laird go... I wonder if this is the result...

Thank God it doesn't have footwells!  Otherwise I'd have to ban it.

It's easy to call someone a "sell out", but I'm sure you get paid for your job.  You probably can't afford to do it just cause you like it or it's fun.  This is Lairds job.  He needs to make money too.  We all have this fantasy that these guys don't have to deal w/ the day to day financial concerns that the rest of us do - get real, they have homes, cars and families too.  So, I guess anybody who gets paid for working has "sold out".  Interesting.....I will definitely stop charging my clients then, so I'm not a "sell out" also!!  ;D
