SOUL SURF apology on Stand Up vs. Lay Down
« on: August 08, 2007, 11:17:34 AM »
I would like to apologize for my comments last week.  Especially to Blane and iwaterman.  I realized the way I approached the issue was wrong.  I suppose I let my emotions take over.  Over the last couple years I have been hearing the complaints of fellow lay down surfers about the stand ups.  Please know that alot of my good friends are also stand up paddlers so I have been in an awkward position being in the middle.  I spoke out for the lay downs.  I cannot dictate what you ride or tell you where to surf.  I have also read alot about the stand up thing in the last couple days and realize the good side of it.  The benefit distance paddles and so on.  Just like in the 80's when the windsurfers and surfers had problems now kiters and windsurfers. I'm sure this lay down stand up thing will work itself out.  I would like to be a part of making the lay downs and stand ups get along.  Lets make this all work!

Its up to each of us as surfers (whether prone or standup) to be aware of our actions and remember it's supposed to be fun... :) Common courtesy like common sense shouldn't be a rare commodity.

Found this post yesterday on Craigslist (yeah, bored at work)
