Paia Bay this morning
« on: July 14, 2007, 01:11:01 PM »
K and I were in the water for from 6:50am for an hour + this morning.  Late start.  I was prone on SouthPointe 9'1" Bonga Perkins/Schaper.  She is SUP paddling a NSP 11' Longboard.  We are trying to hookup with my neighbor coming down from Hookipa.  Wind was light at first, I would say 5-8 knots.  We had some trouble making headway.  Seas were small, but not as flat as Thurs/Fri.  Any lull we could make distance upwind.  After about 30 minutes, wind built and see state was starting wind blown chop.  Start of some whitecaps.  Two surprises: white caps below 15 and how hard it is to paddle up wind.  Impossible.   New lesson.  I'll post a few technique questions.

Hey Doggy,

My daughter called from Cali, and prone surfed in Ventura today.  Flat, but light wind.  Hopefully this South will hit early and the whole pacific will light up again (that last swell was oh so sweet).  Do you have any strings that you can pull to make that happen?
