I am not addressing the CG issue but I like the one foot balance test.

At your size for flatwater workouts The Naish Glide or the Fanatic Fly 14FT in carbon will work best.

As far as a fishing board the Pau Hana Big EZ 11FT X 32 or the NEW Fanatic 11'6 X 33" (my new fishing board) Both are durable, stable have nice glide. and you can even enjoy waves on ANY of the above boards

Thanks for all the advice... I am planning to demo some boards this week at Lake Pleasant (including the Dennis Pang from the craigslist ad) and I will post my thoughts about them later... The balance test was cool, but I only passed after my morning coffee...
