and 7, well 7 is just a perfect example of why folks from Iowa should not go out in the Waimea shorebreak    Be sure to note the two people behind Slater, who have just be tumbled over each other by the backwash, resulting in an awesome pile driver for the dude, and the lifeguard who is watching (thinking, get the stretcher).  A+ photos in my book!

Nice pics...Slater definitely looks like he's enjoying himself.....

that last one looks like me at Big Makena a few years back pre-SUP. Boogie boarding and didn't pay enough attention to the locals bailing from the wave that picked me up and threw me onto my face in 2" of water. I hit so hard it ripped a 2" patch of skin off my face and my left arm went numb. Lucky it didn't break my neck.

Well the story is actually a funny one.  I laughed til tears when Casey was telling it.  Here is a poorly retold version.  The lifeguards had been rescuing and assisting people all day.  Just pulling out folks in trouble.  Slater and Casey went out to body surf.  These guys are skilled in the water and had checked it out first.  Well,  after a few waves, lifeguard gets on the bull horn and calls, "big set, big set, everyone back to shore".  Slater was close in and scrambled out, but Casey had been out bomb hunting and had to head out to sea.  The Big Man barely cleared the last two, and was at risk of a strong thrashing himself.  After this little event they announced, noone in the water without fins.
