10' < Board Sock < 12'
« on: March 30, 2008, 05:30:04 PM »
Anyone know where you can pick up a SUP board sock?  I see Dakine has a 10' and 12' but nothing in between.  Looking for a 10'6", but not finding anything.  Seen some bags, but a sock is what I prefer.
Thanks..

I think for right now that is about what the sizing is going to be for awhile.  So many different sizes of boards and I think the bag companies are going to wait and see what will happen next.

Why a board sock? Doesn't a sock let the board heat up and there is no protection when dropping or banging the board? I would think a board bag is the only way to go. Is my thinking off?

Agree.  Was going to say the same.  Boards are $$$. Bags are worth the investment.

I hate the way board socks pick up bindies and prickles in the grass.. :D

Also without any strap or handle on socks..carrying it will be tricky.

And then there's when they get wet... :-[...Can you tell I'm not a big sock fan.. ;D

I agree with everyone that socks are more trouble, however I just got a notice from Ocean and Earth that they have the 10'6 SUP sox but they look like they might be about $60 to $70.

I'm thinking of a sock as  short term investment, as I'm guessing I'll end up on a shorter board by end of summer hopefully.  I've got a bag for my longboards, so totally agree that's there's no comparison.

As far as the heat concern though, I thought a sock would protect the board from the sun, and let it breath to keep it cool.  If that assumption is wrong, maybe a sock is more dangerous and not even worth it in the short term?
