I'm looking at purchasing a used Hobie Elite 14 raceboard (2010 production model).  I think it is 28 inches wide.

I was curious if any heavy paddlers were paddling this board?  I'm 6'1  215 pds.  I was curious if the board will be stable enough at my weight, or is a custom model the only way for me to go?  Obviously, I'd like to save some money until I'm sure this is going to be a long term deal fo me.

I'm an 80% flatwater (lake) paddler with occassional coastal and downwind runs.

Any thoughts?

I am 5'10" and 205, I have a 14' Naish Glide that is 27 1/4" wide with a volume of 269 litres, also a 12'6 404 at 28 3/4" wide and both are fine even in rough water.
The Hobie is 275 litres so it should float you fine.
If you can definitely take one for a demo, then you know 100%.

I have a Hobie Elite 14' (2010). It was built according to the production measurements for one of the team riders. It came in a bit heavy and so I got the chance to buy it. At the time I weighed 227lb  (5'11) and was riding a custom Hobie 12'6 (2009) at 29.5 width. I felt more stable side to side on the 14' even though it is narrower than my 29.5 Custom 12'6. Comfortably Stable.

The production  board should be perfect for you. It is excellent at flatwater and nice in the coastal downwind runs. I absolutely love the board.
