Printing artwork on glass/cloth
« on: March 15, 2008, 06:04:29 PM »
I've been thinking of doing some digital artwork that could be printed onto cloth or glass for boards. Anyone know who is doing printing of this type?

You need a dye sublimation process--the outfit that printed the Kenalu shirts does it, but the size of the the wave on the shirt is the max size.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

Any digital sign shop will be able to do this for you, either on a waterproof nylon with adhesive (like they use for those auto and van wraps) or on fabric or canvas (which they can then waterproof).  Definitely contact them prior to starting the artwork, as they can give you the file format you will need to finalize in, and the printer specs so you can get accurate proofs.

Should add some sizzle to your next board.

I think it would be fun to shape a board and make some custom cloth for it...or better yet get a custom board from someone that knows what they are doing and provide the cloth.

You could probably stencil and spray that DJ.

Hi David John,
I have had a sign making workshop long time ago. I used tu work with plotted adhesive vinyl.
I could cut any kind of design, while there is no micro details.
The picture you want to put on your board looks perfect to be cut with a plotter.
normal vinyl mid quality (lasting garanty 7 years) sticks perfectly on glossy material like epoxy boards.
I have made a lot of stickers for surfboards, windsurfs and even sails. they last very long.
go to any digital sign maker or printer and ask if they still use cut vinyl. It is not expensive.

good luck
