I love mine, my only compliant is that the board is rather heavy. I'm 220 lbs, have ~400 hours on sup experience, about half of that time on the Sub Vector. More stable than my 9'3 ripper, probably doesn't turn quite as easily. If you are on the heavier side its a great shortboard.

Totally love mine. 9-3 feels like 11'. So stable yet so responsive and fast. I don't think it's that heavy, my only complaint is the shallow hand hold makes it hard to haul long distances. Apart from that, it's the best board I've ridden for my style and ability (intermediate surfer compared with PSH 9-3 ripper, infinity 10', oxbow 9'-6 and bigger boards...) The 5 fin setup is a bonus to play around with so you get 3 boards in one!

Buy it.

Waveshark, I'd be interested in checking out the SubVector if you get one.  Where do you usually surf?  Looking for a few locals of various weights to demo/review boards for my site.  Drop me a note if you're interested.

I'm planning on surfing somewhere south of Venice pier in the AM - blue Coreban.  Yell at me if you're out in the water.

i love my 9-3 sub-v - its a great wave board
stable and manoeverable - not much glide as you might expect
and it needs a wave at least chest high to get going

i also have a 9-1 custom epoxy/eps sub-v which is a LOT lighter

Hi WaveShark,

I have a 9'3 SV and love it. Very fast board and I use it in all size waves. Lat week I had a really fun session in knee high peelers.

It does have big fat boxy rails which are difficult to bury and I don't think it would be my 1st choice board for a really hollow, barrelling wave as it doesn't have much rocker. In these conditions I usually go prone anyway.

Also be aware that it is only 29 wide and whilst the big rails make it stable for a board of that length, it may not be anywhere near as stable as your 11'6 depending on how wide that is.

I don't want to put you off it as it is a great board and one that I love and will probably keep in the quiver.

Have Fun.

Shane

i rode one for a yr it rides great in 6 inch surf to 16 ft surf.  good board,,, it is on the heavy side and the handle sucks. but surfs great and is pretty stable. i found it to be a fast board look for a new version one with the 2 leash plugs the threw the fin system on the older boards sucks. and the paint chips alot.   i find c4s to be a little overpriced as well. a lot of options out there for u in this range  looks into starboard board are a liite cheeper and a lot lighter, or naish which to me are the best construction out there tough as nails.

Hi Waveshark

for me the 9.3 subv is the best bigboy short board style sup  on the market this board will work in anything and to be honest I would not say it was heavy at just over 22lbs my board a TEC 2010 has the anti chip rails which do not chip and anyone who knows there stuff will tell you the construction is bombproof as for other brands  starboards are lighter and cheaper  but nowhere near as strong  naish make some nice boards but the rails do chip and are very pricey .

Mark

just a pic of me with wetsuit on I weighed in at about  220lbs at the time
